Stephanie McMahon Named Interim CEO and Chairwoman of WWE

Stephanie McMahon WWE

WWE has a new CEO and Chairwoman, at least in the interim.

Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis are both under investigation by the Board of Directors for alleged misconduct.

Until the investigation is complete, Vince McMahon has voluntarily stepped down from being CEO and Chairman. He will however retain his role and responsibilities relating to WWE creative control.

In the interim, a Special Committee has appointed Vince’s daughter, Stephanie McMahon, to serve as CEO and Chairwoman.

“I have pledged my complete cooperation to the investigation by the Special Committee, and I will do everything possible to support the investigation. I have also pledged to accept the findings and outcome of the investigation, whatever they are,” said Mr. McMahon.

“I love this company and am committed to working with the Independent Directors to strengthen our culture and our Company; it is extremely important to me that we have a safe and collaborative workplace. I have committed to doing everything in my power to help the Special Committee complete its work, including marshaling the cooperation of the entire company to assist in the completion of the investigation and to implement its findings,” said Ms. McMahon.

Smith’s Sentiment: Well, things continue to get interesting. Stephanie just took a leave of absence from the majority of her WWE duties back in May to focus on time with her family. Not even a month later, she’s the CEO. Wild. We’ll see where the investigation goes, but for viewers nothing will change because Vince is still in creative control. He’ll even be on Smackdown tonight.
