Austringer is back in Destiny 2Ā as part of theĀ Season of the HauntedĀ loot.
It is a 140rpm kinetic hand cannon that has the intrinsic trait Adaptive Frame ā Well-rounded grip, reliable and sturdy.
You can acquire Austringer from Opulent Chests aboard the Derelict Leviathan. Youāll need a key to open the chest, and the Opulent Key is a random drop from completing activities on the Leviathan (Nightmare Containment, Patrols, loot chests, etc.) You can only hold one key at a time.
Once the Crown of Sorrow in the H.E.L.M. is upgraded, you can focus Umbral Engrams to guarantee yourself an Austringer. The cost to focus is 1 Umbral Engram, 50 Legendary Shards, and 27 Opulent Umbral Energy. You get the Energy from completing Nightmare Containment and Sever mission.
Once you unlock the Pattern, which requires completing Deepsight on 5 Deepsight modded Austringerās, you can craft the weapon. Deepsight versions are a random drop, however once the Crown is upgraded your first focus of the week is guaranteed to be Deepsight.
Below is my personalĀ God RollĀ for PvP and a different roll for PvE. For this guide, weāll be using the awesomeĀ D2GunsmithĀ site.
Destiny 2 Austringer God Roll ā PvP
Austringer was a favorite of many back during the Season of Opulence, and now that’s back that will be the case once more.
This particular roll is the one I recommend for competitive PvP as well as general consistency. I play on console, so I look at it from a controller perspective although in this case I think this is the one for PC as well.
- Smallbore – gives us +7 to both Range and Stability
- Ricochet Rounds – gives us +5 to Range and +10 to Stability
- Eye of the Storm – Weapon becomes more accurate and boosts handling as your health gets lower. When enhanced gives +5 Stability
- Rangefinder – Aiming increases its effective range and zoom magnification. 10% increase to Zoom, 30% increase to aim assist falloff distance while ADS. When enhanced gives +5 Handling.
- Range Masterwork
- Targeting Adjuster Mod
This roll is about consistency. You could swap Eye of the Storm for Snapshot to have more consistency. Eye of the Storm of course only procs when your health gets low, so giving you accuracy boosts while you really need it (because you’re in a fight).
Rangefinder is always on and working while you’re ADS, which should be every time you’re shooting it. You could also go with Opening Shot here.
This roll is geared towards 3v3 playlists and just general the consistency without needing to chain kills to get it going.Ā The PvE roll below would also be great for messing around with in 6v6 modes.
Destiny 2 Austringer God Roll ā PvE
There are better 140 hand cannons for PvE, perk wise, but Austringer just feels so good.
- Smallbore – gives us +7 to both Range and Stability
- Ricochet Rounds – gives us +5 to Range and +10 to Stability
- Outlaw – Precision kills greatly decrease reload time
- Rampage – Kills with this weapon grant increased damage, stacks 3x. 1x = 10%, 2x = 21%, 3x = 33.1%
- Range Masterwork
- Backup Mag Mod
Outlaw + Rampage is a classic combination. That said, you could go Triple Tap + Rampage, or Outlaw + Frenzy. If you’re using a grenade focused build, then Demolitionist in place of Rampage would synergize well with your build and the weapons Origin Trait (which is kills when your super is full grant increased strength and discipline for a moderate duration).
I like Backup Mag, just give a few more shots, but with Outlaw doesn’t matter. So you could swap for a minor/major spec or Rampage spec. Personal preference there. In 6v6 PvP, with enhanced Rampage, I’d use Rampage Spec just because it’d go from lasting 3.5 seconds without a kill to 5 seconds.
Smithās Sentiment: I’ve gotten Outlaw + Rampage, but the barrel, mag and masterwork were all garbage. Still, fun to use. I’ve only had three drop, and so far two of them have been Deepsight. So three more I can craft it. Good to have it back.
