Drang (Baroque) is back in Destiny 2 as part of the Season of the Haunted loot.
It is a 300rpm solar sidearm that has the intrinsic trait Together Forever – This weapon has a well-rounded adaptive grip, reliable and sturdy. Kills with this weapon reload Sturm and overflow a bonus damage round into it.
You can acquire Drang (Baroque) from Opulent Chests aboard the Derelict Leviathan. You’ll need a key to open the chest, and the Opulent Key is a random drop from completing activities on the Leviathan (Nightmare Containment, Patrols, loot chests, etc.) You can only hold one key at a time.
Once the Crown of Sorrow in the H.E.L.M. is upgraded, you can focus Umbral Engrams to guarantee yourself a Drang. The cost to focus is 1 Umbral Engram, 50 Legendary Shards, and 27 Opulent Umbral Energy. You get the Energy from completing Nightmare Containment and Sever mission.
Once you unlock the Pattern, which requires completing Deepsight on 5 Deepsight modded Drang’s, you can craft the weapon. Deepsight versions are a random drop, however once the Crown is upgraded your first focus of the week is guaranteed to be Deepsight.
Below is my personal God Roll for PvP and a different roll for PvE. For this guide, we’ll be using the awesome D2Gunsmith site.
Destiny 2 Drang (Baroque) God Roll – PvP
Drang has long been a PvP favorite of mine, so I couldn’t be happier that it’s back and with random rolls once more.
I’m a console player, so this roll is what I like on controller and the one that I will eventually be crafting for 6v6 PvP.
- Arrowhead Break – Bumps the Recoil from 80 (bounces to the right) to 100 (perfectly vertical).
- Flared Magwell – Bumps up Reload Speed from 30 to 45, and also adds 5 Stability. You could go Tactical Mag here for 5 less Reload and +3 to Mag.
- Moving Target – Allows you to move faster while ADS and grants +10 passive to Aim Assistance (which bumps it up to 80, non-enhanced).
- Rampage – I love Rampage on Drang, and it’s better than Vorpal in PvP. If you get melee kills, Swashbuckler would be better. I don’t melee.
- Range Masterwork
- Icarus Grip mod – Bumps up Airborne Effectiveness from 21 to 36.
You could also rock Zen Moment with a Stability Masterwork. Replace Moving Target with Outlaw as well. There are several good options, this one is my personal god roll for PvP.
Destiny 2 Drang (Baroque) God Roll PvE
For PvE, Drang is still a beast. It’s essentially if you use Sturm, which is also really strong when properly set up with the overflowed mag from Drang kills.
Here’s the PvE god roll that I will be chasing/crafting:
- Arrowhead Break – Bumps the Recoil from 80 (bounces to the right) to 100 (perfectly vertical).
- Tactical Mag – Bumps up Reload Speed from 30 to 40, Stability from 60 to 65, and Magazine from 18 to 21.
- Wellspring – Kills with this weapon generate 8% ability energy, equally divided between your uncharged abilities.
- Swashbuckler – Increased damage from melee kills and kills with this weapon, stacks to 5. At 5 stacks it’s a 33.3% damage increase for 4.5 seconds.
- Range Masterwork
- Minor Spec mod – Just to kill trash faster
With enhanced Swashbuckler, you’ll increase the time the buff is active without getting a kill from 4.5 seconds to 6.5 seconds. Which is a lot of time.
Disruption Break in place of Wellspring is another fantastic option, and I do intend to craft that one specifically for when I pair it with Sturm. Breaking a shield with Drang will cause the target to take more damage from kinetic sources, i.e. Sturm. Combined with an overflowed mag, High Energy Fire, and the Radiant buff from solar subclasses, and that would be a lot of damage from Sturm.
Smith’s Sentiment: So far the best roll I’ve gotten (and I’ve only had two, no Deepsight) is Outlaw + Rampage. Which don’t get me wrong, is a great roll for both PvE and PvP. Still I want these two rolls, plus the Disruption Break one.
What’s your preferred roll on the Drang? Let me know in the comments below.
